Polyphonic ensemble SATB

S-C1; A-C3; T-C3; B-F3. Chant (App. 3) significantly affects the structure since it permeates the imitative, contrapuntal fabric throughout the antiphon. Textual phrases are clearly defined through quotation of chant and cadential patterns. “Regina celi,” in homorhythmic style and concluding on an a-minor chord capped by a corona, functions as an introduction. Initial pitches of chant usually appear as breves or semibreves; thereafter, chant is accommodated within various rhythmic gestures. “Alleluia” segments that follow the first two textual phrases share the same music (mm. 56-69 equal mm. 19-31). The final “alleluia” comprises almost a quarter of the antiphon and also includes repetition of material (mm. 149-156 equal mm. 156-164). Vestiges of fauxbourdon appear in mm. 21 and 22, 28-41 and 100-102. Declamatory text setting prevails. Final F, b♭ signature.
