Two contrasting choirs. Chr. I: C-C1; A-C3; T-C4; B-F4. Range, F-d’’. Chr. II: C-C3; A-C4; T-C4; B-F4. Range, F-g’. Chant (App. 3) appears in the C and T of Chr. I and in the T of Chr. II set apart in semibreves (e.g., “regina caeli,” “quia…portare” and “ora…Deum”) within a prevailing contrapuntal texture. Antiphonal procedures define textual phrases (“regina caeli,” mm. 1-9, “quia…portare,” mm. 21-34 and “ora…Deum,” mm. 69-79) but are most evident in alternation of text “alleluia” between choirs (e.g., mm. 79-88); tutti sections conclude the last three “alleluia” segments. Declamatory text setting predominates with appropriate melismas for “alleluia.” Choirs are harmonically independent. Final F, b♭ signature.
