Polyphonic ensemble SAATB

C-C1; A I-C3; A II-C3; T-C4; B-F4. A chant-like motive in semibreves, though unrelated to the antiphon chant, coupled with “ave regina” appears within an imitative fabric in all voices; subsequently, the motive occurs in C and B associated with “ave domina.” Melodic material derived from the antiphon chant (App. 2) coincides with “radix sancta” (T, B, C), “ex qua” (B), “lux est orta” (B) and “gaude” (A I, C, A II). Textual phrases are delineated by cadential patterns and contrast of texture. Freely composed material permeates the imitative texture. Prior to the final cadence the entire texture descends via a sequential pattern within 4 measures. Final F, b♭ signature.
