C-G2; A-C2; T-C3; B-F3. High clefs. Entire range, c-g’’. “Ave” intonation (B). Chant (App. 2), in continuous semibreves serves as cantus firmus (B); the pitch “e” associated with “ex qua…” and “super…” has been altered to an e♭ (mm. 24 and 37). Chant also appears in imitative passages associated with “salve” (T, A, C, mm. 15-9) and “Gaude” (C, T, A, mm. 31-4). Within a polyphonic texture, imitative passages introduce textual phrases: “regina” (T, C, mm. 1-2); “ave…angelorum” (C, T, mm. 6-9); “salve” (T, A, C, mm. 15-9); “ex…mundo” (mm. 25-7); “gaude” (C, T, A, mm. 31-4); and “vale” (A, C, T, mm. 44-6). A combination of syllabic and melismatic styles defines the Pre-Tridentine text. Final F, b♭ signature.
