Biography

A single ascription to "Porchier" of one chanson printed by N. Du Chemin in 1567 signals the existence of this musician. F. Lesure could not find any further information on a musician of that name (BNDC [Lesure & Thibault 1953], p. 279). The French court chaplain Jean Porcher is the only hypothetical identification which can be suggested, though no hint at his musical capacity is available.
