Biography

Capilla flamenca of emperor Charles V, 1531
"Isaac Lheritier, infans capellae" is listed on the roll of benefices in the Netherlands reserved by emperor Charles V for members of his court, drafted in Brussels on 30.9.1531. The benefice reserved for him was the parish church of Neer in the diocese of Liège, today Neer Aubel (Wessely 1991, p. 12, full edition of AT-OeSt/HHStA, Rotulus A nominationum per Carolum I imp. concessarum; summarized in Ferrer 2011, p. 95).

Chansons printed in Lyons, 1541-1547
Three chansons were printed with attributions to "Isaac Lheritier" by the Lyons publisher Jacques Moderne in 1541, 1543 and (as a lute intabulation by Francescho Bianchini) 1547 (Pogue 1969, p. 171, 179, 197, 334). The chanson published in 1543, O vos omnes, sets a bawdy bilingual poem playing with the text of a famous Holy Week responsory.

Nothing else is known about his career nor his possible links with the composer Jean Lhéritier or the singer Antoine Lhéritier, though a family link with the latter, who was an adult singer of the capilla flamenca at the time when Isaac served as a choirboy, is most probable.
