Biography

Six chansons are ascribed to (R.) (De) La Rue in publications of Attaingnant and Du Chemin during the 1530’s through 1550’s. Their author is probably the Robert de La Rue who was master of the choirboys of the Cathedral of Meaux in 1533, when he declined the position of master of the choirboys of Notre-Dame of Paris (Wright 1989, p. 314-315). He is not to be confused with the famous earlier composer of the Netherlands Habsburg court, Pierre de la Rue.
