Biography

A single ascription to "Hugon" of one chanson printed by N. Du Chemin in 1557 signals the existence of this musician. Since Du Chemin's ascriptions almost always refer to last names, there is no reason to imagine that Hugon might stand for the latin first name Hugo, and that musicians bearing it (such as Hugo de la Chapelle) might be the same person.
